Heel strikes when your strides reach too far from your center of gravity. And Mid/Forefoot striking happens when the foot strike is nearer from your center of gravity.
Focus of Tension
The heel strike straightens the leg for impact this focuses on the heel and knee increasing the risk of injury. And Mid/Forefoot strike focuses the tension on the muscles (due to a bent knee) reducing the risk of injury.
Foot Striking Method:
Unnatural stress forced on the heel.
Increased tension on the joints.
Stride in front of your center of gravity.
Tension and stress more equally distributed around the foot.
Engange the muscles on the feet strengthening them.
Stride flows naturally through your center of gravity.
Winter running has different impressions and reasons: cold, too dark, snowy, slippery and all! Running in the cold isn’t as tough as it looks. It only freezes your butt off if you still.
Being motivated is keeping you in a wimp! And it’s too tiresome to go out because of the cold breeze. But those are just a few of the reasons of a quitter! Yeah, you heard it right! And I can spell it to you – Y-U-O *hair-flip 😛
And if you don’t want to be called names, here’s some tips to get you running!
One key factor is to sign up marathon for spring. In sense, that you don’t have the choice but to do the training on winter.
Gear up! Get the right top and bottom in a good layer. That will keep you warm and make sure it doesn’t feel clingy and without restricting your movement.
Run with friends or group. This is one way to make you motivated and do some activity that will make the run exciting.
Be Visible. Importantly! Wear reflective, fluorescent gear, headlight or flashlights. Or what makes you more comfortable. And also not just by reflecting yourself but make your trails visible too. Remember to have the pre-run workout to make your body ready. When warm you can’t feel the cold outside! Also, forget your speed but you can have the experiment on running on thick snow if you’ll be faster in spring in time for your marathon race.

Simply, an all year round event to different states, that’s one big thing! But the main challenge is the 200(ish) mile relay races and the process from start to end. It’s not simple by just registering yourself on the race especially you’re on your own. It’s a shared run!
But the FUN part is searching or convincing people to be in your group or looking for a group that has a slot for one – and that’s YOU! And what’s the big part? – is to show off you (YOU): sportsmanship, ability, capacity and competitive! And meet a new set of friends.
RAGNAR is a team sport that is an opposite of being a “runner” as supposed to be an individual sport. Where you can experience diversity from what you used to. Vans, costumes, cheering, and most of all less sleep to the point on “NO sleep.” And from all the miseries are the FUN part – to be in the race, a certainty of a FUN to a new level. Sharing with friends and having loopy conversations to other teams.
I know things got you stoked which makes you ask: What was I supposed to pack? Running (Reflective Vest) in the dark? How much do I have to spend? No sleep, it’s that a fun part?
For all of the apprehensions and to and fro, running RAGNAR is an incredible experience and one that you MUST have! It’s not being slow or being on the first or the money. It is how we made it on the finish line with the team not letting anyone behind. Winning on how the process came to SUCCESS!
